Dental implants are the best replacement for missing teeth, and there are literally hundreds of companies making them. However, only a handful of these companies make sure that their implant fixtures meet the stringent standards set by the American Dental Association, (ADA), and the Food and Drug Administration, (FDA). Fixtures manufactured by these companies meet ADA and FDA standards as well as precise manufacturing tolerances. They will cost between $300 and $500 each. However, some companies sell cheap fixtures for as little as $5, so there is a strong temptation for dentists to cut corners and save money. Substandard fixtures can and do lead to infections, loose fixtures, and complete implant failure. Dr. Yount and his team only use fixtures that are FDA and ADA approved.
In addition, it is important to choose a dentist who is fully trained to do your dental implants. Since implants are not yet a recognized dental specialty, some dentists launch into providing this treatment with inadequate training.
